Although building a website seems like a daunting task to most people, the truth is it’s actually quite easy. And, despite what some people will tell you, it’s completely free as well.
Yes, back in the day building your own website required coding skills, lots of time, hard work, and money. But we’re in an era now where it’s not only free to build a website, it’s also a fast and easy process which requires absolutely no coding knowledge.
My favorite “website builder” is SiteRubix, due to it’s simple yet powerful platform. SiteRubix makes it possible to build a website in less than thirty seconds, making it the quickest website builder in the world. And of course, it’s free.
I’ve created a step-by-step walk through below, which shows exactly how to build a website with SiteRubix:
How to Build a Website with SiteRubix – a Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Join Wealthy Affiliate (you have to be a Wealthy Affiliate member in order to access SiteRubix.)
Step 2: Hover over the blue SiteRubix tab in the left menu:
Step 3: Click “Site Builder”
Clicking that will take you to this page:
Step 4: Under step 1, select “A Free Website”
Step 5: Type in your desired domain name under “Choose your domain name”. Note that since it’s a free website, it will have “.siterubix” at the end.
Step 6: In step 2, name your website. It can be the same as the domain name, or completely different.
Step 7: In step 3, you can choose a look (theme) for your website. There are nearly 2,500 different themes to choose from, and that number grows every day.
Step 8: When you find a theme you like, click it.
Step 9: Here’s the exciting part! click “I’m Ready, Build My Website Now!”
Step 10: That’s it! On the next screen, you can log into your brand new website and begin adding content to it, or changing things like the layout and colors.
How To Add Content to Your Website
There are a couple options for adding content to your website: a post, or a page.
Posts appear in your blogroll and usually show up on your website’s home page.
Pages on the other hand, do not show up in a blogroll. However, you can link them to a menu in order to make it easy for people to find them.
Another difference is that posts can be categorized, tagged, will display the author name and the date the post was published, and automatically allow comments. Pages offer none of these options, except for comments in some cases.
The main difference between the two is that posts are more of a “quick update”, “latest news”, “how to”, or product review, while pages are like your website’s pillars and usually contain important information.
The steps required in order to add a post or page to your website are virtually the same, so I’ll just cover posts in this walk through.
Step 1: In the backend of your website, hover over “Posts” and select “Add New” from the dropdown menu.
Step 2: Give your post a title
Step 3: Write out your post! You can add all sorts of things to your post, not only text. This includes images, videos, tables, and more.
Step 4: Once you’re satisfied with your post, you can either preview it or publish it. Previewing it will take you to a page showing exactly how your post will look once it’s published. Publishing it means you just added a new piece of content to the internet (that the whole world can see) 🙂
How to Change a Website’s Layout and Colors
Most themes will let you change the layout and colors. Doing this will make your site unique and allow you to add your own personality to it.
Some themes give you more control over these aspects than others. The theme I’m using for my demo site only has a few options, but I’ve also worked with themes that allow you to change so much, that the theme can become almost unrecognizable with enough tweaking.
Here’s a walk through showing the simple process of customizing a theme:
Step 1: From the backend, hover over “Appearance” and click “Customize” in the dropdown menu.
Step 2: View the options available in the left sidebar. It’s pretty self-explanatory what you can do here.
Step 3: Once you’re satisfied with your website’s new look, hit the blue “Save & Publish” button.
Step 4: After it’s saved, you can click the X in the top left corner, which will take you back to the page you were initially on.
As you can see, building a free website is super-easy these days if you use the right tools (like SiteRubix). It literally takes less than 30 seconds, even for a complete newbie. That’s just one of the reasons why I like SiteRubix so much.
By the way, you know how I mentioned Wealthy Affiliate earlier? Well, not only does Wealthy Affiliate have SiteRubix, but it also has some awesome free training on how to make money with your website. The training they provide actually takes you step-by-step showing exactly how to build, monetize, and promote your website.
And in case you didn’t already know, making money through your own website is one of the most lucrative ways to make money online. A number of Wealthy Affiliate members actually make a full-time income from their website, and all they did was follow the training and take action.
