How to Get Paid to Search the Internet

I find it amazing that there are so many easy ways to make money online.

One of my all-time favorite ways is getting paid to search the internet. Who would have thought you could get paid to browse the web? Yet at this very moment, there are many search engines that will actually pay you to use them.

Here’s How it Works

First, you’ll have to sign up with these websites (I list some of my favorites at the end of this post). Then, every time you search the web you can get paid. Some of these sites will pay you for every search you perform, and others will only pay you every once in a while.

You don’t have to do anything else to get paid. Literally, all you have to do is search like normal. That’s the really neat thing about these sites – the fact that you’re getting paid for something you already do anyway.

Paid to Search

How Much Can You Earn?

It’s different for every “paid to search” website, but the one thing they all have in common is that you won’t get paid very much.

Some will pay you 0.5 cents per search, and others will pay very sporadically, but sometimes up to a dollar (that is really rare though).

I’ve had a lot of experience with paid to search websites, and I’d say you can make an average of 10-30 cents per day if you search regularly. This is equivalent to $3-$9 per month, which isn’t bad considering most people are earning $0 for searching the web.

Although this is nowhere near a real income, it is a great way to make some free pocket change by doing something you’ve already been doing without pay.

The thing I really like about getting paid to search the web is the fact that it’s passive income. There’s nothing “special” you have to do other than search like normal.

How Can “Paid to Search” Websites Afford to Pay Their Users?

These sites earn a lot of ad revenue when people use their search engines, so they can easily afford to pay their users a few cents every now and then. In order for them to stay in business though, they can only pay their users a fraction of what they’re actually earning.

It’s a win-win situation. These companies win because by offering incentives to those who use their search engines, they’ll attract more and more new users, which means more money from ad revenue. And you win, because you’re getting paid for doing something you already do without pay.

What’s the Catch?

As far as I know, there are no catches with getting paid to search. However, each of these companies have their own small catches. For example, since most of them have their own search engines, the search results will likely be a little bit different than what you’re used to if you’re a Google user.

That said, there is one that works with Google, called Qmee. Qmee is one of my favorites, because it works on Google, Amazon, eBay, BestBuy, and many other platforms.

A Few Tips

Here’s a few tips you should keep in mind when using any paid to search platform:

  • Don’t search fast. If you do a bunch of random searches over a short period of time trying to get paid, you will most likely get caught. Usually, the consequence for this is getting paid less often.
  • Try to stay on the search results for 30+ seconds. By staying on the search results page for at least 30 seconds, you’ll appear legitimate and be a valued user.
  • Search like normal. The best thing you can do is to simply browse like normal. If you normally do a couple searches per day, don’t try to suddenly start doing 50 random searches to increase your chances of getting paid. This will actually result in you getting paid much less often.

My Favorite “Paid to Search” Websites

Here’s a list of the websites I use and recommend. Most of these sites also offer other ways to earn money, like taking surveys or watching videos. However, I usually stay away from these other options because they’re a huge waste of time in my opinion.

Anyway, here are the sites that have paid me to search:

  1. Qmee

Shows their own ads in a sidebar every so often, and you can earn an average of 8 cents every time you click one of their ads. Works on many of the largest sites, such as Google, Amazon and eBay.

Income Potential: $1-5+ per month

  1. Swagbucks

Has a pretty good search engine that runs on Yahoo. Pays anywhere from 4-100 cents for every 15-20 searches.

Income Potential: $1-10+ per month

  1. Microsoft Rewards

You have to use Bing as your search engine. Pays you 0.5 cents per search. Up to 5 cents per day as a level 1 member, and up to 25 cents per day as a level 2 member

Income Potential: $1-9+ per month

  1. InstaGC

Has a decent search engine. Usually pays at least a penny for every 10 or so searches.

Income Potential: $1-3+ per month

Final Thoughts

Getting paid to search the web is an excellent way to make a little pocket change online. It’s a great introduction to the world of making money online for those who have never done so before, as it requires no effort, and is safe, passive income.

If you’re interested in getting paid to search, definitely check out the 4 websites I listed above. Let me know in the comments which ones you choose. 🙂

Although getting paid to search is nice and all, it simply won’t pay any bills. If you came here hoping to find a way to make a full-time income from your computer, unfortunately getting paid to search isn’t going to cut it.

Making a living online is definitely possible, but it takes a lot of work. Fortunately, I’ve found an excellent training platform that teaches how to do it in step-by-step, easy to follow lessons. If you put in the work and time necessary, working from home with just a computer is very achievable. Click the link at the bottom of this post if you’re interested in learning more.

  1. Well, since we are all doing searches anyways, I don’t see why not leverage from that, even if it’s something small. It can help for those who struggle with money and need to pay for some services. Extra 10$ per month for something you’ve been doing for a long time sounds just alright!

  2. I never really knew these existed. It seems likes a great idea to make money while doing something that you already naturally do. I find it funny the things people are actually willing to pay for and how little we know about what we can get paid for. Thank you for this informative article, I may have to go sign up for on of these sites and make a few bucks for searches I do everyday!

    • I agree, Hailey. More people should know about the numerous opportunities out there. Unfortunately, I think all the scams on the internet have caused people to distrust even the legitimate opportunities, like getting paid to search the internet.

  3. Wow, Great overview of paid-to-search, didn’t realize it was out there really. Very well written, thanks for that. Not really a huge way of making money but then again if you are using it as an alternate to your usual way of searching might as well pull in a few bucks 🙂

    • Hi Josh,

Thank you. Yeah, it definitely won’t make you rich, but it’s a good way to cut some small costs every now and then. Pocket change is all you’ll really earn, but who doesn’t like free pocket change? 🙂
