How to Spot and Avoid Make Money Online Scams

How to Spot and Avoid Make Money Online Scams

Trying to generate an income online can be rough. In fact, it’s a minefield out there with scams running rampant. It’s not easy for beginners to get started with making money online, due to the vast and continually growing number of scams, all hungry for your hard-earned money.

Scam artists are getting smarter these days, devising new schemes all the time which are designed to squeeze as much cash out of you as they possibly can. Ever seen those ads that go something like “College student uses this 1 weird trick to generate $300 a day!”? Well, I can assure you that stuff like that are absolute scams. They are designed to feed off human greed, and therefore have no trouble continually pulling in new victims.

When you see stuff like this, run away and don’t look back!

Okay, so we all know the internet isn’t exactly a safe place. But it’s not actually that dangerous if you know what you’re doing. Below is a list of tell-tale signs of “make money online” scams:

How to Tell if Something is a Scam

  • You have to pay a fee before you can access the program – Websites that ask you to pay an up-front fee before accessing their training, or software, or whatever they’re promoting, are outright scams almost 100% of the time. In some extremely rare cases that’s not always true, but play it safe and avoid this type of thing at all costs.
  • Promises that you’ll become rich – Anyone promising that you’ll become rich with their program is scamming you. Simple as that. Using simple logic, you’ll realize that if such a program existed, everyone would be millionaires living the life of their dreams.
  • A video-only sales page – Avoid anything with just a video on their sales page. This is a tactic marketers use to “force” visitors to sit through the whole sales pitch, and programs using this tactic are almost always scams. Legitimate programs allow you to explore and read more about them before joining.
  • Pictures of fancy cars or mansions – Any product that tries to entice your inner greed by showing pictures of things you’ll be able to afford by using their program, is a scam. Legitimate companies don’t promise these types of things, because it’s simply impossible to make money online without putting forth a ton of effort and there is no program out there that can guarantee your success.
  • The guarantee is advertised more than the product itself – This might sound silly, but some products actually advertise their 30, 60, or 90-day guarantee more than the product itself. This is supposed to make you feel 100% confident in their product, but if you think about it, companies using this method seem as if they “know” you’ll want your money back at some point. Why would you purchase a product that doesn’t even believe in itself?
  • “Done-for-you” system – If you come across any program claiming that all it takes is a few simple clicks and you’ll soon be making thousands of dollars, don’t even touch it with a ten-foot pole! Again, if stuff like this actually existed, we’d all be millionaires. Making legitimate money online requires a huge time investment and massive effort.

Any product fitting into any of the above categories should be avoided at all costs. It’s sad how many scams there are on the internet these days, but even more sad that people have wasted millions of dollars on them – for nothing in return except a negative experience.

Do Any Legitimate Programs Exist?

Thankfully, not everything on the internet is a scam. There are actually plenty of legit products out there that teach even beginners the process and steps required to earn a full-time income online.

The one thing almost all legit programs have in common is the ability to try them out free. If you can take a program for a test drive so to speak, then it’s almost certainly a product you can trust.

I actually use and highly recommend one such product – in fact, in my hundreds of hours of research, it always comes out on top as the best program for teaching people to make legitimate money online. It’s called Wealthy Affiliate, and it’s what got me started on the right track in the whole “make money online” world. Even to this day, I continue to learn new things there that are extremely beneficial in growing my online business.

So yes, legitimate programs do exist these days. Although, they are few and far between and unfortunately, all the scams out there give just about every make money online product, even perfectly legitimate ones, a bad reputation.

The trick to remember – and the tip I’ll leave you with today – is to do your research before joining any website that claims to teach you how to make money online. Do that, and you’re sure to stay clear of any scams.
